People who tend to have sickness and think that their are not sick or just believe that things will get better have a mindset that somehow creates new possibilies to recover. Think about it if your suffering from kidney failure and you are always down, depressed and feel their is no help then your body and strength automatically gave up and doesnt want to try to get better. On the other hand if your strong and believe in help, you are more willing to accept it, do something about and create something that materializes your sickness. |

Posted by: Questionable on 2009-12-04, 17:43:52 Positive thinking can definitely change how you see the world. I don't know if there is medical support to positive thinking, but it makes sense that it can change your well being. I know that depression has been linked to illness, so why not the other way around. Smile! |

Posted by: Missi on 2009-12-04, 17:53:34 I really am torn by this question. As I am a hopeful realist. If you have a terminal condition I think you can be the most positive person in the world and the only thing that's going to save you is some divine intervention. If it is your time it is your time. But I would like to think that if you have a long term condition that is not life threatening then why wouldn't your mind have the ability repair your body. It is your brain that controls every atom in your body. We have a lot of untapped potential in our heads. |

Posted by: netrippa on 2009-12-05, 02:23:00 To answer your question yes and no ,positive thinking helps depression ,which leads to a positive outlook, studies have shown that when doctors give the patient nothing more than sugar tablets and tell them that it will cure their headache or remove their warts it does, this is called the placebo effect ,but in terms of curing a serious illness it would be very rare to beat say some cancers without propper treatment, but as long as we have the right outlook anything is possible |
